1. From the movie, what positive and negative effects of British rule in India and South Africa did you observe? Think about not just what was explicitly stated in the movie, but what you observed about the overall culture and environment. 2. What were Gandhi's methods and why were they effective? 3. Think about a major conflict in the news right now. Would Gandhi's methods be effective in resolving that conflict today? Why or why not? For those of you who haven't yet seen the Single Story TED Talk, I've posted it below. Excellent discussion of perception and generalizations in regards to our study and understanding of Africa.

On May 1, 1893, the gates opened at the World’s Columbian Exposition, also known as the Chicago World’s Fair. Over the next six months, more than 26 million visitors would flock to the 600-acre fairgrounds and 200-plus buildings full of art, food, entertainment and technological gadgets.
